It was a certainly a different day for all of the Hemingway Bailey team on Tuesday 6th September as we were followed around by a video cameraman who was filming us for a ” Day In The Life Of Hemingway Bailey ” as winners of the Quickbooks Firm Of The Future award for the UK in 2016.
Most of the day was spent with Alan Hemingway but every one of the team got involved and it was certainly a long day of filming, running from 8:15 am to 7:45 pm. There was a lot to fit in with the varied work we do at Hemingway Bailey and so that time was needed. Before filming we were all nervous and the thought of having a camera follow you all day was certainly unnerving but the excellent Dave Timko who had flown over from Atlanta in the USA to do the shoot put us all at ease.
Following our policy of trying to give practical work experience to youngsters we even got one of our contacts sons to be involved behind the camera so he could see what went on. He is studying a Film & Media degree at Salford University and so it was a perfect opportunity for him to learn from Dave who had worked on numerous documentaries with CNN back in the US around the world.
We had a packed itinerary for the day and it started off with some filming of us all working in the office and then we were out and about. One of our clients is a deli in Beverley and we were soon filming them making use of the mobile capabilities of Quickbooks Online .
From there we were quickly on the train in to Hull to see another client who works at C4di in Hull and he specialises in developing Apps and is currently working on developing an App that works with Shopify for clients. These meetings are great for us because apart from meeting our clients regularly, it gives us chance to see how we can use these Apps for our clients but also to see if there are any possible uses for the software the client has not thought of. Having a lot of practical experience of different industries means we can offer that advice.
For the day of the filming we were blessed with a lovely sunny day and as it turned out, Hull was the warmest place in the UK that day and so it was a treat to sit on a bench on the riverside to catch a quick bite to eat.
We were then back on the train to Beverley to start the presentation on the Top 5 Apps we recommend to boost your profits which we were presenting at East Riding College . This was time for Dave Good & Evie Molloy to join Alan and present to local businesses on :
After presenting at the college we were back to the office for interviews with the team and finally a detailed interview with Alan.
Filming finished for the day with Alan walking home into the sunset towards Beverley Minster ( OK it sounds cheesy but we needed to get Beverley Minster in from the tourist angle ! )
The next thing to happen is we get the first edit back for us to make any modifications to and then the video will go online on the Intuit website alongside the USA, Canadian & Australian winners videos for everyone to vote for the global winner of Quickbooks Firm Of The Future. This happens in early October for 2 weeks, we will let you know nearer the time how you can vote for us as winners.
Now, does anyone have the contact details of any agents in Hollywood that the Hemingway Bailey team can use ?
